Introduction To Lime Kiln Type

Lime kiln is a device for burning lime, which mainly includes the whole process of raw material preparation, fuel combustion, air burning, waste gas treatment and lime production.

Lime kilns are widely used and come in many types. According to the fuel, there are mixed-fired kilns, which burn solid fuels such as coke, coke powder, coal, etc.; gas-fired kilns, which burn blast furnace gas, coke oven gas, calcium carbide tail gas, generator gas, natural gas, etc. According to the kiln shape, lime kilns are divided into vertical kilns, rotary kilns, sleeve kilns, West German Weimaster kilns, Maerz kilns (Switzerland), Fukas kilns (Italy), etc. At the same time, there are positive pressure operation kilns and negative pressure operation kilns.

The following are the kiln types commonly used in China and abroad:

(1) Vertical lime kiln (coal-fired vertical kiln and gas-fired vertical kiln

Vertical kiln is the main traditional kiln type for lime production. Its kiln body is a brick structure. The center of the kiln body is a firing zone, and a row of kilns is set on the upper part of the firing zone. Its characteristics are: the heat generated by the combustion of fuel is first absorbed by the brick body in the kiln, then transferred to the center through the firing zone below the firing zone, and then transferred to the outside through the cooling zone. Finally, the heat is discharged to the top of the kiln through the primary air belt on the top of the kiln. The vertical kiln has the following advantages: simple structure and low cost; strong adaptability to materials and high production efficiency; the waste gas generated during the production process is burned and the waste gas treatment is simple.

(2)Rotary kiln lime kiln

The rotary kiln lime kiln is composed of a rotary kiln, a combustion chamber, a cyclone separator and a lime conveying device. There is a short annular section at the connection between the rotary kiln and the combustion chamber. When the temperature in the kiln rises to a certain level, the material will be sent to the bottom of the kiln and cooled at the same time, and the calcination will be completed in the rotary kiln. The rotary kiln lime kiln has its own unique advantages. Its cost is lower than that of the vertical kiln, and its operation is also relatively simple. However, because it has a certain inclination angle, the heat generated by the combustion of the fuel cannot be fully utilized, which also causes energy waste. Dust pollution and exhaust gas pollution will also be generated during the production process.

The rotary kiln lime kiln is widely used all over the world. Its advantages are: the quality of the lime produced is the best among all kiln types, it can burn crushed stone materials with a diameter of more than 5 mm, it has a high degree of mechanization,  the highest single kiln production capacity. The disadvantages are: its heat consumption is higher than that of the vertical kiln, it is heavy, it occupies a large area and a high investment.

(3) Introduced vertical kiln (double-chamber vertical kiln

The iconic structure of the double-chamber kiln is that the kiln body is composed of two independent vertical kiln chambers. At the same time, a connecting channel is set in the middle and lower part of the kiln body to connect the two kiln chambers. When one of the two kiln chambers is in the calcining chamber, the other kiln chamber is in the heat storage chamber. The working status of the two kiln chambers is generally exchanged every 12-15 minutes.

The double-chamber kiln adopts the advanced parallel flow heat storage calcination principle. The so-called parallel flow means that when limestone is calcined, the combustion air, fuel and materials all flow downward from the upper part of the calcination zone, and the three flow in the same direction, so that the materials can be burned in a gradient manner, thereby avoiding overburning. At the same time, the materials and the cooling air meet in the opposite direction in the cooling zone, so that the materials are cooled quickly, thereby increasing the activity of the lime. The thermal efficiency of the double-chamber kiln is the highest among all lime kiln types currently.

Production capacity of various types of kilns:
The production capacity of various types of equipment is determined based on the value of existing equipment of various scales in the market, including 100t/d, 150t/d, 200t/d, 300t/d, 400t/d, 500t/d, 600t/d, 800t/d, 1000t/d, 1200t/d and 1500t/d, etc.
Among them, the production capacity of medium rotary kiln equipment is relatively large and covers a wide range of 300~1500t; the production capacity of single-chamber vertical kiln equipment is 100~600t/d;
